  • New Satellite Technology for Mobile Internet Communications
C-Com's iNetVu is now offering a new technology for mobile VSAT. The iNetVu Ka66 has been designed to take advantage a new satellite, Telesat Canada’s Anik F2 Satellite. Anik F2 is the world's largest commercial communications satellite. The Ka66 is the first mobile satellite internet offering to operate in the Ka band frequency range.
  • HDTV Compressed Digital Video (CDV) For Non-Geeks
Compressed Digital Video (CDV) is comparable to using MP3 files for music. It makes the file smaller without damaging it, so that it takes less time to download (less bandwidth), and more songs can be stored on your player.

CDV reduces the signal bandwidth requirements of a TV signal to enable its transmission via the Internet, DVD, cable, or satellite. This is necessary because an uncompressed video signal is very large. High definition files are much larger than standard definition files.
  • Communication Requirements for Small Business and Residential Construction
Before the Internet revolution, small business and residential applications had only two wiring systems, the electrical service and the phone service. Phone lines were the only means available for computer networking and were used for data transmission. Inexpensive computing, the Internet, and digital communications are transforming the global economy. Twenty years of stunningly rapid advances in technology have brought computing into businesses and homes in ways that were recently barely imagined. Today, more options are available (and needed) to meet the communication needs of consumers.
  • WiFi Networks, Can You Hear Me Now?
WiFi networks (802.11) are being implemented by individuals and organizations of all sizes to improve productivity, add convenience, and decrease costs.

The Future is WiMax: WiFi on Steroids

Although the WiMax boasts over 275 WiMax deployments throughout the world (mostly small regional operators), the only place where WiMax has been a business success is in Russia
  • HDTV For The Non-Geek
This might be a good time to upgrade your vhardware. The new standard offers a much better picture. In the current world of digital projectors, LCD, LCOS, Plasma, and DLP are the four different kinds of televisons that dominate the HDTV market. Each has unique advantages over the other.

Video quality on the best projectors now surpasses that available in a conventional commercial movie theater. When reviewing information about the different techniques, pay attention to the source of the information.
  • Business Unready For Internet Unreliability
Communication requirements for business includes credit card transactions, training, and other mission-critical functions. Business is increasingly reliant on internet communications. Ten years ago, much of this work was done on dedicated satellite communications links. However, increasingly, this transaction is occuring over telephone lines over the internet.

Mission-critical function disruptions cause extreme harm to the business. Such an outage could have serious legal and financial ramifications. Examples could threaten the health and safety of individuals.
  • Video Downloads Threaten Internet, Hollywood
The technologies of television and the internet are converging. We have been hearing about this trend for years. The rapid adoption of HDTV is driving the growth.

However, it is clear that the bandwidth requirements to support widespread video downloads will easily overwhelm existing capacity.

Also clear, if the video industry follows the pattern of the audio industry (in regards to downloading files), there will be significant damage to profitability.
