Looking out the window of my Los Angeles apartment, I can see grey clouds and a dull rain that never seems to end. The weather has been quite unpredictable this year, so I know I will appreciate the sunny days ahead all that much more. I imagine curling my toes in the sand at the beach, the ocean breeze in my hair. It’s only walking distance from where I live and I long for the warmth to return. The summer brings with it the change for renewal. It’s a time to gather together with loved ones. Outdoor barbecues. Bike rides. New weight loss tricks. Yoga. A long deserved adventure to see a missed friend. To prepare for the sun’s grand unveiling, I’m starting now. After scouring the stores, I have found there are some very specific must haves that will make this season memorable— • The Wedge – Otherwise known as Espadrilles, these sandals are great for the summer. Not only do they compliment all of your summer clothes, they make you 3 inches taller! Talk about a boost. These will help to elongate your legs and will help you to kick the season off right! • Big Sunglasses – Take care of your eyes and increase your fashion prowess at the same time. Oversized plastic shades are a must have for the beach, shopping, and lunch with the girls. If money is tight, check out your favorite local discount store for sunglasses that will be kind to you AND your budget! • Big Bag – To compliment your new shoes and oversized sunglasses, you’ll also need a big bag. Preferably one in a natural color. Search around online for the best deals – there are many sites that sell discount handbags and offer free shipping and returns for their customers. • Flat Sandals – When you want to go a step beyond flip flops, check out the latest trend – bejeweled sandals. Stay with natural colors or metallics. They can be worn with a dress or are casual enough for a trip to the beach. And the best news is: they won’t kill your feet! • Pastels – The last thing that you will need to be completely prepared when the sun begins to shine is pastel cosmetics. I recommend getting a pastel palette that will allow you to try different shades on your lips, cheeks, and eyes. And, don’t forget your sunblock! Be prepared to welcome in your summer with open arms – and stylish shoes!
