Six deep breaths when you count this way is only one minute of time. Go ahead and breath this way a total of 18 to 30 times which equals 3 to 5 minutes. If you do this correctly you will experience a change of consciousness and will be completely relaxed. The key to being successful with this tip is illustrated by the following story. Ask yourself, “Could I, if I never learned to ride a bicycle, jump on a bike and ride to the local store in an emergency?” The answer is no. However once you have learned to ride a bike you never forget. It is the same with practicing and really learning the correct way of breathing. The purpose of practicing this type of breathing 6 to 7 times daily for several weeks, is that when a panic does come up you are ready for the emergency. There was a Zen Master who was asked by an interviewer if his teachings were serious or humorous. The master replied, “Sometimes I take humor seriously and other times I take seriousness humorously.” The interviewer retorted he was crazy. The master paused as he looked at him with a smile, “That’s true. I am crazy.” He added, “I’m crazy because my teaching is true.” This story illustrates a disarming technique to soften resistance. In the healing experience there are no true opposites. The negative point of view or belief needs to be disarmed to corporate with the positive.
