The Cultural Center Of The World

A free article on Retirement

By: Property Scout

The high speeds of modern life don't leave us much time for other things, and we can often find ourselves rushing forward without ever having a chance even to catch our breath. Even the occasional break from work, the so-called vacation, just allows enough time to begin relaxing before its back to the grind again.

For anyone who has spent their entire adult life working, the sudden stop of retirement can come as something of a surprise. You suddenly realize you have nothing you need to do, no obligations, no deadlines.... it can be a bit overwhelming. You'll probably spend the first few months or weeks relaxing, and possibly try to catch up on everything you've wanted to do but not had the time for before now.

Nevertheless, you'll soon find that everything that seemed so important before gradually begins to lose its meaning. You've already spent so long working, why would you want to continue? You get used the casual pace, and the chance to do something different. Take advantage of this opportunity. Leave your home town, your home country even, and go explore. Find somewhere nice to relax in.

One of the best places for this is the Costa del Sol. Truly a center of the worlds art and culture, the sunny south coast of Spain, once unnoticed and forgettable, has taken central stage in recent years. The main reason for this, is the city of Malaga, which is rapidly becoming a more popular destination then even Paris. The city itself has had thousands of years to develop, and contains such wonders as the fort of Alcazabar.

Of course, you may not have an interest in historical splendor. In that case, don't worry, for there is plenty of modern delights to attract and engage you. For instance, take a look at the museum of Picasso. Now, you may not have an interest in Picasso per se, but you cannot deny his impact on modern art. And the museum of Picasso in Malaga is one of the greatest such museums in Europe. Besides this, you have a plethora of theatres to visit, and a wide selection of other entertainments such as classy restaurants, to choose from. And then, if you ever wish to escape this very modern world, you have only to glance outside the city. The scenery is incredible.

Tall mountains cast a spell of grandeur over the nearby countryside, a beautiful contrast to the sparkling, crystal clear seas, and white beaches. Across the water can be glimpsed the coast of Africa, another continent tantalizingly just beyond reach. If natural sights are not your interest, you will undoubtedly admire all the more the brilliant white "sugar cube" villages, perched precariously on the edges of the mountains.

If you ever get bored of the city, and want something just a little more adventurous, there are dozens of golf courses right nearby, for which the area is justly famous. Given the range of them, and the gentle weather generally found there, you are practically guaranteed to have somewhere to gold at any time of the year. If you can ever find the time, of course, with so much else to do!

In the end, if you want somewhere to retire, or even just a beautiful place to spend your next vacation, I can highly recommend the Costa del Sol. So head on down, and check out the worlds next great cultural center.
