Due to be released on July 11th is a mobile phone that looks set to become the crown jewel of O2's product range. But can it really be as good as people say? Is the Apple iPhone 3G the one that will beat all other mobile phones?
Apple iPhone 3G - just look at the features!
On June 9th, a product was released that made lovers of mobile phones and Apple lovers in particular, go mad with excitement. It'd been nearly a year since the first iPhone had been unleashed, and now, the newest evolution was let out of the bag. It's due to be released, on O2, in July. But how is this new Apple iPhone 3G better than other mobile phones? Well, first thing... it has an awesome 3.5 inch touchscreen, so that all the coolest features and powerful functions are there for you, quite literally, at your fingertips. And what control you have, as the Apple iPhone 3G is the second handset in the history of mobile phones to be built on top of the amazingly intuitive Apple OS-X. Only one other mobile phone came before it, and that was the original iPhone.
You may recall that there was a certain amount of criticism levelled at the original iPhone. Other mobile phones have more features, people said, other mobile phones are more powerful. And then, in spite of the amazing interface, they were right. Other mobile phones DID outperform the iPhone, although, that's going to be harder to do with the Apple iPhone 3G, coming soon on O2. The big thing that was missing from the first iPhone was 3G, and that was where other, more well-known mobile phones beat it. That's not a problem now, though, because the Apple iPhone 3G, as the name implies, joins the world of mobile phones that HAVE got 3G. And boy is it fast, because it uses HSDPA, allowing you to connect to the internet at up to 3Mbps. As well as that, you get GPS, and we should all understand how useful and invaluable that is!

Once we get through the hype, is the Apple iPhone 3G really the new hope for mobile phones? Is it ACTUALLY that important? Well, it is, but maybe not in the way you suspect...
You see, the Apple iPhone 3G is, just like its predecessor, flawed. It's not all great, and whilst that can apply to most mobile phones, in the case of the Apple iPhone 3G, it's being hyped up as the ultimate phone. However, if you choose just ONE feature, the camera, you'll see that in that particular field it's mediocre at best, and at worst, utter rubbish. In the present climate of mobile phones with cameras built in, that's a very bad thing. So, if it's not perfect, why is the Apple iPhone 3G so important? Simple, it's because the Apple iPhone 3G, coming soon on O2, has forced other mobile phones to up their game. So, manufacturers like Nokia and Sony Ericsson are really battling to make up ground, and take the fight to this usurper. That's why it's important: the Apple iPhone 3G is forcing manufacturers to make better mobile phones, and hey, that can only be a good thing for us, the customers!
