Due out later in July is a mobile phone destined to be the shining light of O2's product range. But can it really be as good as people say? Is the Apple iPhone 3G the one that will beat all other mobile phones?
Apple iPhone 3G - just look at the features!
On June 9th, an announcement was made that made lovers of mobile phones and Apple lovers especially, go bonkers with excitement. It'd been nearly a year since the first iPhone had been unleashed, and now, the newest iteration had just been let out of the bag. It's set to be released, on O2, in July. But how is this new Apple iPhone 3G better than other mobile phones? Well, first of all, it has an awesome 3.5 inch touchscreen, meaning that all the slick features and awesome functions are there for you, quite literally, at your fingertips. And you'll be flicking through menus with glee, very quickly, as the Apple iPhone 3G is only the second device in the history of mobile phones to be built around the amazingly intuitive Apple OS-X. Only one other mobile phone can say that, and that was the original iPhone.
You may recall that there was a lot of criticism levelled at the original iPhone. Other mobile phones have more features, people said, other mobile phones do more than it. And then, in spite of the beautiful interface, they were right. Other mobile phones COULD outperform the iPhone, although, that's will be a lot more difficult to do with the Apple iPhone 3G, coming soon on O2. The big thing that the first iPhone lacked was 3G, and that was where other, more established mobile phones won hands down. That's not a problem now, though, because the Apple iPhone 3G, as the name implies, is now one of the mobile phones that HAVE got 3G. And crikey is it fast, because it uses HSDPA, letting you connect to the web at up to 3Mbps. As well as that, you have GPS, and we should all know how useful and invaluable that is!
Apple iPhone 3G - is this the phone of the future?
Once we get past the hype, is the Apple iPhone 3G really the new hope for mobile phones? Is it ACTUALLY that important? Well, it is, but it might not be in the way you suspect...
You see, the Apple iPhone 3G is, just like its ancestor, flawed. It's not perfect, and whilst that applies to most mobile phones, with the Apple iPhone 3G, it's being called the ultimate phone. However, if you choose just ONE feature, the camera, you'll realise that in that particular area it's average at best, and at worst, total garbage. In the present world of mobile phones with cameras built in, that's a very bad thing. So, if it's not perfect, why is the Apple iPhone 3G so important? Well, it's simply because the Apple iPhone 3G, coming soon on O2, has provoked other mobile phones to up their game. In other words, manufacturers like Nokia and Sony Ericsson are really fighting to make up ground, and take on this challenger. That's why it's important: the Apple iPhone 3G is forcing manufacturers to make better mobile phones, and hey, that's got to be a good thing for us, hasn't it!
