Announced today, the Sony Ericsson T700 is the perfect mobile phone for those who like to live their lives in style. But is this new supermodel from Sony Ericsson actually any good?

Anyone who remembers back to the way-off days of 2003, may well remember one of the single most iconic mobile phones ever released: the gorgeous Sony Ericsson T610. It caused a great big stir on its release, because, compared to the other mobile phones around it at the time, it was one of the most innovative and cool devices you could buy. The big reason for that was very, very simple. It's small size and premium metal body gave the Sony Ericsson T610 a cool factor that other mobile phones just couldn't match. Of course, it was also one of the first phones to hit the UK with a built-in camera and polyphonic ringtones (a real novelty at the time), and all those factors combined to ensure that Sony Ericsson had a winner on their hands.
Now, you may wonder why I'm talking about a 5 year old mobile phone here, but the reason couldn't be simpler; the spirit of the T610 has been reborn in the brand new, drop dead gorgeous Sony Ericsson T700.
Sony Ericsson T700 - Blast from the past into the future
There are no two ways about it; the Sony Ericsson T700 is beautiful. It looks good from every conceivable angle, and it's easily, to my mind, one of the best looking mobile phones I've seen. It's that slim body that does it, and the fact that it's made of metal. Mobile phones with metal shells look good. I'm sorry, but they just do, and the Sony Ericsson T700 is no exception. It just exudes charisma from every pore. If this were the film 'The Italian Job' (the good one, not the rubbish remake), and the Sony Ericsson T700 were a car (go with me on this, the analogy IS going somewhere), then it would undoubtedly get 'preeeetty car' said about it many, many times.
The question is, though... whilst it's pretty, is the Sony Ericsson T700 actually any good? Well, it's certainly no slouch, let's put it that way. Like just about all mobile phones, it comes with a built-in camera, but here, Sony Ericsson have crammed in a 3.2 megapixel camera, meaning pin-sharp photos are a doddle. Then, you can view those photos on the media browser built-in to the Sony Ericsson T700. And what a media browser it is, as it follows on from Sony Ericsson's previous offerings... and that's a good thing, because basically, they've taken the media browser from things like the PSP and PS3, and rammed it into their mobile phones. Or, to put it simply, it's superb. You can even download more videos and music, using the super fast HSDPA connection on the Sony Ericsson T700, that lets you get online at speeds up to 3.6 Mbps, which is pretty fast, however you look at it! And remember that all of this technology is wrapped up in a metal body only 10mm thick. That in itself makes the Sony Ericsson T700 one of the most astounding mobile phones around!
