Overcoming the Risks and Living Your Dream
We make millions of choices in our lives. Every once in a while, we encounter crossroads that leave us clueless about what the right choice is. We tend to be caught in a web of dilemma where we are stuck wondering what we should do. During these times, we tend to ask for advice on what to do. We turn to others before we make a decision. What if you need to make one important decision and there's no one you can ask for advice? Who do you turn to? How can you make sure that you are making the right choice and that you will have no regrets?
Most of us tend to panic when facing a situation where we have no idea what to do. Some might make a choice and just ride it out while others don't make a decision at all and just go with it. What's the worst that could happen, right?
To illustrate this, imagine a person who teams up with another in order to establish a company. They develop the business plans and share the responsibility of taking care of the business. They both shell out a specific amount of money as starting capital for their expenses and they both work hard to make the company successful. The company becomes a huge success where they have an endless list of customers and numerous job orders.
However, one of them feels a void that even the success of the business can't seem to fill. He easily becomes irritated, anxious, and stressed and all the craziness is taking a toll on his health. He feels bored and wants to live his childhood dream of becoming a fire fighter. He wants to have a more meaningful life where he could save the lives of others. It may sound absurd to others but to him it all makes sense. He wants to bail out on the partnership but he does not know if he should.
Several concerns are keeping him from going for his dream:
* Ending the partnership means pulling out all the capital and the revenue that he owns.
* Afraid of ending up with no money, living on a small wage.
* Afraid that his business partner will hold it against him for bailing out after working for decades on the business.
You may be financially successful with your current career but can you say that you're truly happy? In order to achieve true success where we can be happy we must learn to follow our heart's desire. Yes, we should consider all the risks that can come with our decisions. Nevertheless, we can find solutions for these risks so that we can still do what we love to do.
If you are in a similar situation, stop worrying about what the other person will think about you. Make sure you do this in a professional manner. Times like these, you can't exactly quit and walk out. Communication is the key.
The best way to deal with it starts at setting a meeting with your business partner and 'fess up. Explain your side fully and find a way to compromise how you can end the partnership without causing damage to each other's finances. Staying in the business while rotting in misery will only hurt you, your partner and the business itself! And life's too short to stay unhappy!
Don't let your fears control your life. Don't be afraid to go after what you want in order to live a happier, more fulfilling life.
