Finding the right product niche is critically important to long term business success. When successfully completed, this single action can result in the ability to make money on eBay. Yet what are the right steps to take in identifying that right niche for a specific eBay business. An eBay business that is focused on a specific niche market will be addressing a need for a product or service that is likely not being addressed by all of the mainstream suppliers. In a market niche an eBay seller might establish a niche market by specializing in baby bottles and bottle nipples rather than offering general baby products for example. A smart, smaller seller can make money on eBay by establishing themselves in these small specialized market niches. There is a huge strategic advantage to being alone in a market niche. Other smaller eBay sellers may not even be aware of your particular niche market. Larger sellers likely won't want to bother with a small, focused market niche. The trick to capitalizing on a small, focused niche market is to find or develop a market niche that has prospective buyers readily available, that is growing, and that is not already dominated by one established vendor already. There are some critical criteria when identifying the right market niche for you. You must already be knowledgeable about the niche. If not, you must be able to quickly gain expertise about the niche of choice. It is important that you enjoy the niche of choice. While this could be an option, why would anyone ever spend all of their time in an area of no interest - or even an area that they dislike? A seller might be able to make money on eBay, yet they would be miserable while doing it! There are other critical criteria as well. There must be many potential buyers looking for the product or service that you will be providing. Competition for those prospective buyers needs to be as small as possible. Even better are the niches where there is a limited supply of the product or service that will be sold. This greatly increases the chances to make money on eBay in that niche and with that product. The final criteria to be mentioned in this article is the most important; there must be the potential to make a profit from the product or service that is to be sold. It doesn’t make sense to purchase products for resale at $10.00 and then sell them on eBay for $9.00. That is certainly not the formula to make money on eBay. To Your eBay Success!
