If you can spare 2 minutes to read this article, you may be elated to find out that you may be entitled to a large settlement if you used the Kugel Mesh Hernia Patch.
Even today the FDA has received reports of more than 80 injuries and other problems possibly related to the breaking up of a component of a mesh patch, including several fatalities. One of the incidents allegedly reported has been of a broken ring that was noted at the time of surgery.  Experts discovered that the ring was removed from the patients; however, the Kugel mesh patch was left implanted.
In another two inconclusive cases that were reported where bowel perforation and allegedly broken rings were allegedly migrated noted at the time of implant. In yet another incident, a broken ring had allegedly moved into the abdominal wall and was removed, leaving the mesh implanted.
These are the incidents allegedly caused by breaking up of a faulty recoil ring. In December, 2005, the Composix Kugel Mesh Patch Recall began.
Then the FDA recently issued an expanded recall of hernia mesh repair patches, specifically large sized Bard Composix Kugel Mesh Hernia Patches. Patients who have had a hernia repaired in the recent past with a Kugel mesh are now aware of the possible risk that can cause major health problems and even death.
Apparently, there is a plastic coil ring which is supposed to aid in its deployment but can actually allegedly break when pressure is placed on it from certain surgical placement techniques.

In Missouri, a patient allegedly endured having their hernia repaired with a Kugel Mesh, in March 2006, after a doctor informed the patient that their infection was due to the surgical product.  An infection was discovered only seven days after surgery.  The doctor discovered the infection while trying to remove staples out of an incision but it burst open.
The insertion of the Kugel mesh during the patient’s past surgery has caused them to undergo another surgery. According to the patient, the surgeon allegedly numbed the area and had to sew it up a second time leaving the Kugel Mesh.  Since March of 2007, the patient has gone through several medical procedures to help ease her pain and to combat infection.
Be sure to contact a doctor and a Kugel Mesh Recall lawyer if you are experiencing symptoms.
