Ortho Evra lawyers on behalf of consumers of the Ortho Evra birth control patch have filed lawsuits against Ortho McNeil Pharmaceutical, a division of Johnson & Johnson. The Ortho Evra lawsuits allege that the birth control patch has caused Ortho Evra side effects, such as pulmonary embolism and other related adverse health conditions.
If you can spare 60 seconds to read this article, you may find out not only critical medical information regarding the safety of the patch, but also whether or not you may be able to recover monetary damages obtained by ortho evra lawyers from the makers of the patch.
In 2006, the Food and Drug Administration stated that it has revised the warning label on the Ortho Evra birth control patch. The label cites some women who use the product face a greater risk of blood clots. The warning label adjustment came after the final results of a health study, commissioned by the drug’s manufacturer established that users face two times the risk of blood clots in the legs and lungs than women taking typical brand-name birth control pills. The Ortho Evra birth control patch has been available in America since April, 2002. Thus, it wasn’t long after that, that users became displeased with the birth control patch and endured Ortho Evra side effects. Ortho Evra lawyers were hired by the users and filed lawsuits.
Prior to the approval from Ortho Evra, the FDA had noted a predominance of non-fatal blood clots occurring about three times more in Ortho Evra patch users verses birth control pill users. The death rate of Ortho Evra patch users was three times higher as well. 10 women filed a New Jersey Superior court claim with Ortho Evra lawyers that declared they experienced blood clotting dilemmas after using the Ortho Evra contraceptive patch notes the FDA collected 9,116 adversative side effects reports from Ortho Evra patch users in about 17 months against 1,237 adversative side effects in birth control pill users in approximately six years.
Under the Freedom of Information Act, the Ortho Evra lawyers represented clients who were part of the 16,000 Ortho Evra side effects, which included skin reactions and death. 17 deaths appeared to be blood clot-related. The women that died were young and at an obviously low risk for blood clots per the comments of Ortho Evra Lawyers who handled the lawsuits. Blood clots are jelly-like half solid masses of blood body tissue that coagulate in the human body at the site of a wound in order to stem bleeding from the particular affected area. Blood clots can form inside a vessel and break clean off into the blood stream. This results in the blood flow blockage to body areas, usually with dangerous results. The most common forms of fatal and deadly blood clots leading to a stroke are embolism and thrombosis.  The blood clots normally form in the legs and become lethal if they migrate to the woman’s lungs, heart or brain.
If you have used the Ortho Evra birth control patch and have experienced Ortho Evra side effects such as blood clotting, stroke, heart attack, or death of a loved one, it is important to talk to ortho evra lawyers immediately. You may be entitled to monetary damages.
