How to sell well on ebay

A free article on Home Based Business

As the credit crunch bites, many more people are looking at how they can make
a little extra money. The truth is, it is easier than you might think. The internet
offers many ways for you to make extra money. There are many money making schemes
out there, many of which would probably work if only they were put into action
properly. One of the easiest ways to make money is to sell on ebay.
Fear of Failure
Some ebay sellers have sold tens of thousands of things, and you wonder how
they manage to do it. Well the first thing to realise is that they are just
like you and me. They aren’t particularly more intelligent or business
orientated. The only difference is that they have done it. They have bitten
the bullet and got over the fear of taking a risk and selling online.
Many of us are not entrepreneurs because we are scared of taking the plunge,
or the risk. Not because we are about to embark upon a very risky venture, but
because we are scared of failure. Its human nature, but it’s also what
stops us from setting up shop and trading and making money. It sounds silly,
but it’s true. I used to look for products which I could get cheaper online
and sell on ebay. I could find them quite easily, but I would never take the
risk and buy a few to sell on, even though I knew I would make a few quid, because
I was scared of failing. Once you get over this, then there is nothing stopping
you making lots of money online and on ebay!
How to Sell Better
There are lots of techniques to selling well on ebay. One of the most significant
is trust. You can search for something on ebay and find it from two sellers,
yet despite how much of a cheapskate you might be, you buy it from the more
expensive guy. Why? Because this guy comes across trustworthy. You believe that
what this guy is telling you about the product is true and that you will get
a good service from him.
If you see a listing for a toaster which simply says, “toaster –
takes two slices”, it doesn’t look that appetising. It looks awful,
it certainly doesn’t entice you to get out your wallet and buy it. The
reason is because you simply don’t trust the listing. You don’t
know whether its made by Morphy Richards or Kenwood, you don’t know if
its new or used. There are too many unknowns and you feel you cant TRUST the
seller.
So, when you’re selling, make sure you purvey trust. You do this simply
by adding copius amounts of detail. List all the features of the product including
all its uses. The more the better and customers are much more likely to be interested
in you listing and your product.
What to Sell
There are two strategies to go for when looking for what to sell. Firstly you
can find niche products. Search ebay for random products which are not very
popular. If no-one is selling them, then you have a niche – simple as
that. Niche products can be hard to find though, so it can be easier to go the
other way. Find out what is very popular. That is what sells very well on ebay.
One of the best things you can sell is games consoles and accessories. These
sell very well, but because of the wide variety of games and accessories there
isn’t too much competition. With your detailed listings you can easily
outsell the competition. A good starting point would be www.gamingwholesale.co.uk
to find some suppliers. Find some wholesalers which give you a good margin and
check on ebay for what they go for. As soon as you find a few products which
look like winners then go for it! Do not sit back and just think of what might
happen, bite the bullet and buy a few and sell a few and before long you’ll
have a solid second income! Good Luck!
