The keyword ‘airlines’ is still included but the search should neat down a lot of the competition.

Once you have decided upon your keywords, type it into Google between quotation marks. If the search shows over 10 thousand results, competition is very hard and you should try an alternative until you find one that shows less competition. This method can steal a lot of time; for a faster alternative get yourself a keyword tool and perform the search automatically.

Your domain name should be connected to your keywords. For example, you could use domesticairlinesphuket.com using the previous example on airlines. Take your time over the keywords and domain name as they are a vital part of ranking high in the search engines.

Once the domain name and target keywords have been decided upon, the site needs to be optimized with a title and description. Keep the title short and include your main keyword in it. The meta description should also contain your main keyword once or twice and be a brief explanation of the site itself. Use your main keyword in the text of your web page a couple of times at the top of the page and again near the bottom. Ensure the keywords fit into the text and it reads well as this will provide the visitor a good impression of the site and satisfy the search engine spiders.

Search engines will grant your website a higher status if it sees it as relevant. How it judges sites relevance is by looking at its text content, the amount of times its target keywords come into view in text on the web page and by the varying ways it appears.
Link strategy is also essential for the success of your site. The search engines rank your website according to the number of relevant web pages you link to and link to you. It also looks at which pages on each site are being linked, what is incorporated in the incoming and outgoing links and where on the page the links are placed. Make sure you submit your website to the main search engines and major directories as otherwise they will have no record of you and your site will never be found!
